Connecting BRICS Markets with India’s Handmade Carpet Heritage
The year 2026 holds special significance for India as the country assumes the BRICS Presidency, providing a unique opportunity to deepen economic engagement, strengthen trade partnerships and create new avenues for businesses across emerging markets.
Against this important backdrop, the 50th India Carpet Expo assumes an added strategic significance. Organised by the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), set up by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the Golden Jubilee Edition will bring together India’s leading handmade carpet manufacturers and exporters with international buyers and sourcing professionals.
The Expo is scheduled for 4–7 October 2026 at Carpet Expo Mart, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, the heart of India’s renowned handmade carpet industry.
The 50th India Carpet Expo will place a special strategic focus on BRICS markets, creating an important platform for buyers and businesses from these economies to explore India as a reliable sourcing destination for handmade carpets, rugs and floor coverings.
The Expo will facilitate:
Direct B2B engagement between Indian exporters and BRICS buyers
New sourcing partnerships across emerging and established markets
Market diversification for Indian carpet exporters
Greater visibility for Indian handmade carpets in BRICS economies
Business networking and trade linkages between manufacturers, importers, retailers, designers and sourcing professionals
The BRICS Presidency provides the broader economic context; the India Carpet Expo provides the business platform.
Together, they create an opportunity to showcase how India’s traditional craft industries can participate in the expanding trade and commercial relationships among emerging economies.
From the celebrated carpet-producing belt of Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Varanasi to the diverse manufacturing centres of Panipat, Jaipur, Agra and Jammu & Kashmir, the Expo brings together the depth and diversity of India’s handmade floor-covering industry.
The result is a unique sourcing experience combining heritage, craftsmanship, design, innovation and international trade.
