Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) organized its 48th India Carpet Expo from 14-17 April 2025 at Hall no.1, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi with an aim to promote the exports of “Indian Handmade Carpets & other Floor Coverings”.
This Fair has become very popular worldwide amongst Overseas Carpet Importers, Chain Stores, and Retailers. 220 reputed overseas carpet buyers, from all over the world, visited this Expo to do serious business with Indian Exporters/ Manufacturers. This Expo had the participation of 157 exhibitors of Handmade Carpets. This will ultimately benefit over two million weavers/ artisans employed in this highly labor-intensive, rural-based cottage industry. This Expo will help generate business of approximately. Rs. 300-400 Crores.
The Council successfully organized the India Carpet Expo (RBSM) from 14-17 April in New Delhi which was inaugurated on April 14, by Chief Guest Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Government of India, who lit the ceremonial, ribbon cutting & release of the fair directory. He was accompanied by Guest of Honor Ms. Amrita Raj, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts).
There was participation of 160 exhibitors at the RBSM event, India Carpet Expo, held from 14-17 April 2025 in New Delhi. The event witnessed participation from more than 220 overseas buyers, and 130 representatives of Buyers and was concluded successfully.
Chief Guest Shri Giriraj Singh emphasized the importance of the textile industry in employment generation and highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the development of new fiber blends using jute and bamboo.
He also advised the industry to consider setting up spinning mills in the area, stating that this move would not only save transition costs but also create employment opportunities and contribute to the overall development of the handmade carpet industry. He assured the carpet industry of continued government support and stressed the need to focus on technological advancements to remain competitive globally.

Hon’ble Minister of Minister for Khadi and Village Industries of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Rakesh Sachan, visited the event and expressed strong support for the carpet industry.
Hon’ble Minister of Labor and Employment, Coordination Department of UP, Mr. Anil Rajbhar, visited the event and expressed strong support for the carpet industry. He highlighted that the carpet sector is crucial for the economy and provides a significant source of employment, particularly for women and artisans in rural areas.

The Chairman of CEPC, Sh. Kuldeep Raj Wattal said that after taking the feedback from participants, it is expected that after all negotiations & orders are put in force within 5 – 6 Months, the export generated from the fair will be approximately Rs. 300 – 400 Crores. It was also noticed that many buyers were also interested in procuring the ready stock of the participants. Buyers expressed great satisfaction with the varieties they found at the Expo.
This expo will lead to the opening up of new market opportunities for the industry and shall help small and Medium Indian carpet exporters in promoting their products to overseas countries.
Eventually, this ongoing process, on a broader scale, is instrumental in projecting the” Make in India Brand'' in overseas markets. He further said the India carpet expo is an ideal platform for International Carpet Buyers, buying houses, buying Agents, Architects, and Indian Carpet Manufacturers & Exporters to meet and establish long-term business relationships. 220 Overseas Buyers from Australia, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungry, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Japan, Libya, Lithuania, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Oman, Palestine, Panama, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, USA, Germany etc. attended the India Carpet Expo. 130 Representatives of Overseas Buyers, Buying Houses, Designers, Architects, etc., also visited the India Carpet Expo.
The Carpet Export Promotion Council showcased the products of 157 reputed small, medium, and large manufacturers and exporters from all over the country, viz. U.P., Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, etc. It is the endeavor of the Council to provide an exclusive business environment to both carpet importers as well as manufacturer-exporters, which ultimately will benefit about 2 million weavers and artisans employed in this highly labor-intensive, rural-based MSME cottage industry.
Buyers who visited the Expo were very much impressed with the display of various Handmade Carpets and other floor coverings and arrangements made by the Organizers and shared their trends and requirements of their respective markets.
The “India Carpet Expo”, upholding the prime motive of the Council is not only bringing the largest business opportunity to all segments of handmade carpet exporters, beginning from the smallest to the biggest exporter, but it “also provides 'unique pick and choose' business” opportunity including retailers and wholesalers and that too under one roof. The Indian Carpet Sector is more than capable of making any design and quality to cater to the demand of customers.
Sh. Kuldeep Raj Wattal, Chairman, CEPC, expressed that this event will be beneficial to the medium and small exporters who can’t afford to display their products in overseas Exhibitions on the one hand and on the other hand show the capability of India to produce and supply quality products in time.
